Jasper Announces Run For Parks Board

(Vancouver) Prominent West End community activist Aaron Jasper today announced that he will be seeking the Vision Vancouver nomination for Parks Board. Jasper says that he is committed to increase citizen participation in building a truly sustainable city.

“I am very excited to part of Gregor Robertson’s team and his vision of positive change for Vancouver. Parks Board is a natural fit for where I am at in life right now and I am committed to making a real difference if elected.”

Jasper, a Realtor, is currently a Director with the West End Residents Association and a member of the Renters at Risk Campaign. He recently helped organize the West End Car-Free Festival and was heavily involved in the Nelson Park Re-development initiative. He says that his community involvement has given him valuable insight into the importance of neighbourhood level input in decision-making.

“City government has to change the way they operate. We must move away from the top down, highly partisan culture and start to involve those people who are directly affected by decisions made. Gregor’s commitment to changing the political culture at City Hall was one of the reasons I actively supported his bid to seek Vision Vancouver’s mayoral nomination.”
